Obama offers to sit down and have a beer with Gates and the arresting officer-- seems to follow the pattern we remember early in the campaign:
Obama says something we agree with, has to step back to accommodate the mainstream masses, and turns it into a teachable moment. In the process, he's probably pissing off people on both sides, but we have to say (especially after the previous 8 years), second-guessing your words and actions from time to time is something we can believe in.
